Template for COSEWIC status reports

Formatting template

The accompanying template file provides information for contractors on the format of COSEWIC status reports. For detailed information on the required scientific content of COSEWIC status reports, refer to the document entitled Instructions for the preparation of COSEWIC status reports.

The template has been pre-formatted in the appropriate Microsoft Word Style (font, size, bold, italic, align left, etc.) where applicable. The style is indicated in parentheses. Text enclosed within square brackets provides instructions, or indicates information to be inserted by authors. If working directly within the template, delete all instructions and information within square brackets and parentheses, as well as the brackets and parentheses themselves, prior to submitting the completed status report. Text not within square brackets or parentheses is to remain part of the status report.

Note: The final status report should be saved and submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.docx).

The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) is an independent advisory panel to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada that meets twice a year to assess the status of wildlife species at risk of extinction. Members are wildlife biology experts from academia, government, non-governmental organizations and the private sector responsible for designating wildlife species in danger of disappearing from Canada.
